Picking at Memories of Tula with Rose Schneider

February 11, 2014Posted by albanytulain Blog, Education & Culture

2012 Essay Contest winner and now, lucky for us, board member of the ATA, Rose Schneider talked about her experiences visiting Tula at the Essay Contest Launch Party last night at the Colonie Library.

“Nearly 2 years later and I still get asked about my trip to Russia,” said Schneider as she described the friends she made, the food she enjoyed, the homes she was invited to and the cat she enjoyed playing with at School Number 3.

Speaking to just a handful of attendees, Schneider and Education Chair board members Barbara Webster, Dawn Weinraub and Sonja Stark enlightened the room with a slide show presentation and video clips from prior trip(s) to Tula.

“A lot of people can say they have been to Russia but very few can say that they visited because of their writing skills, ” said Schneider who wrapped up her speech by generously thanking the ATA for making the opportunity available to her and thousands of students in the Capital Region.
